Art Practice
I am an installation artist incorporating, sculpture, photography and drawing and more recently film and sound. I have recently completed a Masters Degree in Fine Art at Birmingham City University Art School where I created work on memorialisation, the abject and the unspoken. I have always had an interest in working with archaeology and evidence of human existence; volunteering on a dig, recording marks left by the human body and collecting objects which evoke memories.
Participatory Artist, Facilitator, Coordinator and Teacher
Since completing my BA I have worked with others helping them discover their own creativity. Through my work as co-founder of Henhouse Art School and as a Participatory Artist with the community and children. I have worked for over 20 years in different settings from schools, community events to festivals. I am a friendly, outgoing, creative person and I love a challenge. I enjoy helping other people discover their creativity and have fun in the process. I am a problem solver and like to promote that in others. I believe that the process is just as important as the final result. I have worked as Arts Officer for Lichfield District Council for 16 years until recently; organising art activities for the community, promoting the arts and creating opportunities for artists. I have also been a Teacher of Art & Design in secondary schools and as Artist in Residence in Primary Schools. Through my freelance work I have created artworks with Chadsmead Primary, Olympic Rings with Boney Hay Primary, a Mosaic with Bridgtown Primary and a Reading Corner at Whittington Primary School with Henrietta Ellis.
